A Death Cinematic 'A Parable on the Aporia of Vengeance and the Beauty of Unpenetrable Sadness'

This one monster 2 CD set from one man,a guitar and a incredible amount of musical vision."A Death Cinematic " is presented here with some beautiful packaging and artwork, the 2 CD's come in a double-sided plywood housing and the whole package is printed with a stark sepia photography.A lot of time and effort has gone into making this one of the most unique looking CD releases this year. The compositions here are of the experimental and ambient style while still retaining a slight Black Metal edge. This however is not what i consider Black Metal as this some heavily layered guitar drones with the odd Metal riff thrown in.Trying to compared this with anybody else is almost impossible but imagine between"Caïna" and "Earth" and i guess you be pretty close.Over the 2 CD's and 11 tracks which has a total running time of about 90 minutes you get a atmospheric, voyage in some real Darkness that can take your mind into places that maybe you don't want to be.The guitar work contains a substantial amount of reverb that creates a mournful tone to the tracks. Not much in the way of vocals and its hard to understand the meaning of the song titles at first but with repeated listening it becomes more clear.Kind of like looking at one of those 3D paintings,at first nothing comes to mind and then the vision comes through. One element to the music that stands out is the use of gorgeous melodies and chord progressions but also killing that vibe off completely by the use of feedback and distortion. This may irritate some people but this isn't a album for the closed minded listener, this demands a open mind and patience. This is a very improvised album and when you consider a lot of this was made just off the top of this head,it makes the album just that bit more remarkable.Don't quote me on that but i believe a lot of these songs were made off the cuff. The only criticism i will make is the 2 CD's are a bit much to digest and some of it is a little too raw(production wise).I feel if the best elements were combined into making just one CD's worth of music it would have been more effective.Highlights for is the brilliant closer of CD 2 ‘Brilliance of the First Morning Snow’ with its low-end turbulence and 'The Sun Glints Through The Dust With Risen From Their Hooves' that features some awesome psychedelic metallic doom riffage. This album will properly appeal to fans of fans of; Godspeed, Skullflower, Vibracathedral Orchestra,Earth and maybe Boris.A demanding listen but can be a rewarding one at times.8/10
