Epistle - Monoliths of Ancient Times - Demo

Epistle sent me this crushing slab of Funeral Doom and this is only a demo but this band has some potential to become one of the best exponents of Funeral Epic Doom in the world.There is 4 tracks,all of which are not real long but have a real huge epic feel to them." Monoliths Of Ancient Times" starts off the Demo in a lumbering style with some crushing riffage and a vocalist reminiscent of classic Doom from the past.Part Saint Vitus,Count Raven with some Reverend Bizarre thrown in for good measure.This is Funeral Doom with a classic Doom Metal twist.The next 2 tracks continue the darkness in similar somber fashion,both tracks are part of a 2 part suite and are the picks of the demo for me.Lumbering,Menacing and Crushing with a Epic story to be told.They have a soundtrack/ theatrical sound to them,if they ever were going to make a Doom Metal opera then this is the style you would most likely hear ! Final track "Streams Of Eternal Blood" while in the same vein as the others takes the Doom level up a notch mainly due to the more dramatic vocal approach.They have a Session Vocalist, Tom Davy who does some vocals on here and it really adds to the track.This tune is a classic already in demo form and i would love to hear it with better production,not that the production is bad.Its actually pretty good for a demo but when these dudes get a full length out hopefully with big production,its going to be a monster release.Keep a eye out for these guys.8/10
