A couple of weeks back and was surprised to find this CD had been delivered to my place.Surprised because i had never heard much from the band and they were not even on my friend list on Myspace.I don't even know the dude who sent it ha ha..Not knowing what what to expect i inserted the disc into the CD player and got on the Internet to do some research on the band.The music was so massive from the start i soon found myself sitting in front of the stereo being more than impressed with this Swedish outfit.From what i can work out this is a combination of 2 EP's and when you listen from start to finish you can hear the subtle differences.Musically the band ranges from typical Swedish Stoner Rock to Doom to a all out Metal assault.Comparisons to Mastodon are kind of obvious but i prefer this band's take on Epic Beast Metal as they call it.There is 3 members of the band all contributing vocals which range from very clean singing to caveman growls.Not all the songs grab me though with the longer tracks being the main highlights to my ears.
“Pursuit of Yeti,” “Rise of the Lizard King” and “Flight of the Reptilians” are the real killers on the album while the shorter tracks like “Awrecktion " seem to lack something.They attack but don't leave any lasting memory.There is plenty of changes to the pace with “Scientists and the Man of Ice,” and “New Sleepers” really breaking things up.One good thing is they have the Swedish Stoner Rock trademarks a la "Spiritual Beggars" influenced Stoner Metal inspired material but they also branch into a lot more Progressive Metal mostly during the second half of the CD.At one hour plus in duration,there is plenty to take in and they are one of those bands if one track doesn't grab you,the next one will.This is a mixed but massive sounding release.They refer to themselves as “dwelling beastrock " and that pretty much sums up the music on here.Give them a listen....8/10
