Sendelica – The Satori In Elegance Of The Majestic Stonegazer ...

Just as a year ago British masters of psychedelic progressive space rock Sendelica presented to the world another revelation called "The Pavilion Of Magic And The Trials Of The Seven Surviving Elohim". And situation is the same in this June: practitioners of guitar yoga meditation show to their followers another documentary evidence of their successful tries in musical asanas and skilful practice of instrumental via ethereal subconscious jam sessions and studio improvisations which led the duo of Pete (guitar, keyboards) and Glenda (bass) to the ultimate enlightenment. The drummer-priest Paul Fields and electro-guru Colin Konsterdin helped them on the thorny path to satori, as few guest musicians contributed tunes of saxophone, flute and sitar to the palette of Sendelica.

I can’t stop my train of thoughts as I still see a whole artistical legacy of Sendelica as one brilliant improvisational set, and if we follow the theory that all musicians are human conductors of higher astral energies from more fragile outer worlds to our mortal plane then the British gentlemen are really succeeded in this business. Melodies of "The Satori In Elegance Of The Majestic Stonegazer" move as an independent alive cosmic stream, which dissolves the ego and the illusion of a rough material manifestation of nature. If your internal vibrations have been set in same frequencies as psychedelic vibrations of Sendelica, then the feeling of unity with this stream will be a natural and logical result of album’s listening. However, new improvisations from Sendelica are individually independent and complete compositions, but in the aggregate they are consistent development of band’s previous works. As usual it is a heavy, bright, instrumental psychedelic rock, which does not recognize any stylistic boundaries, but also does not violate the existing ones.

Guitar of Pete Bingham still shines as pure and piercing beacon for space intergalactic travelers, and it’s still a better guide in outer world of space rock. Try optimal tuning to its frequency via relaxing meditation – go and clean your consciousness, prepare yourself for this important step will a help of "Aetheraland", this track will bring your mind away with it’s tender flute tunes and melodic guitar sounds. Conceptual track "Satori ..." in four parts will be understood not only by veterans of old school psychedelic front, but also by those who are familiar with the work of the bright stars from modern German scene - My Sleeping Karma! Tracks of "Satori ..." are greatly differ from each other - it all starts with a light workout in a vein of jazz ambient (Part I), the plot develops into a heavy cyclical act of traveling into the inner space, which is decorated in the good spirit of hard rock (Part II resembles a set of solutions of the first track album "Magical Ninin"), the climax - the attainment of enlightenment itself (Part III) where space rock ideals are represented by a relaxing flight of thought and epilogue returns us to the transfigured earth, which shape is cloaked in a serene guitar ambient. Despite previous songs two final tracks "Preseli Daze" and "The Majestic Stonegazer" are heavy, even massive and sometimes clumsy.

Whatever it was, in my opinion, album title reflects it’s content the best: participants of Sendelica - as a result - indeed have reached a true grasp of human nature, and the implementation of this discovery is naturally expressed in music. But I still wonder how often they record new albums while maintaining a high level of stuff itself. Clearly, Pete and Glenda know something we do not know, and there is something to think about .... But strike me thunder if I want to know it now - let the music fill my mind and change it for a start!
