Monthly Round-Up: What Happened In June ...

It was an interesting month for Doommantia.Com. We have new writers with Doomm@naic, Mark Martins, Julio Espin, Jack Sabbath and Steve Miller all adding their very first articles for the site. Their work will be valuable additions for the site and I can't wait to see what they come up with next. We had a big donation drive which was a mild success. We had a few donations with a couple of them being very generous but ALL donations are very appreciated and I hope they keep coming for the month of July. I wasn't joking when I said this site was on the brink of extinction and it still isn't safe just yet but we can keep going for a couple more months with your help. I can't thank you enough for your donations and words of support. A couple of things are being dropped for the month of July, the main one being the polls. The June poll gather only around 200 voters for the month so it might be time to lay that to rest for a while. Hits are down for the site for the month of June too, over 100,000 down compared to just a couple of months ago. All I can say is where did everyone go??

Some sad news now. The Foundry of Doom radio show is going off the airwaves so that page will be removed from the site within the next week or so. The show has been a great supporter of the underground doom, stoner, sludge and psychedelic metal scenes and will be sorely missed. Everyone at Doommantia wishes station owner Tommy the best of luck for the future and hopefully the show will be reborn sometime. The show has been a very important part of this website and has always attracted large page-view counts, Doommantia.Com won't be the same without it. R.I.P

iNTERVIEWS > Krief de Soli, Horse Latitudes, Ahab, Khthon, Innzmouth and Aleks interviewed the great artist Mila Kiseleva.

REVIEW HIGHLIGHTS>  The reissue of Sleep's "Dopesmoker" is such a classic release, it is the album of the month here @ Doommantia.Com but other highlights include the new Witchsorrow album 'God Curse Us,' the self-titled release from Ice Dragon, Sun Eater's also self-titled album, Ivy Garden of the Desert's "Blood is Love," and Project Armageddon's "Tides of Doom" album. Other bands worth mentioning include Spelljammer, Echthos, 16, Baroness, Sardonis, Earthen Grave, Satellite Beaver, Process of Guilt, Reino Ermitano, Akem Manah, Bible of the Devil and Doomed. You will find reviews for all these bands and about 30 more for the month of June right here at Doommantia.Com.

LIVE REVIEWS> Sleep, Church of Misery and Whitehorse.

Thanks to everyone for all their help this month, as usual you have all done a great job. Extra special thanks from me to my sweetheart Sally "DoomVixen" Bethhall whose support, love and guidance has been essential in keeping me motivated. Without her this site would be in big trouble as she is really the driving force behind a lot of what happens on Doommantia. As well the main site Sally is also an admin over at the Doommantia Forum. The forum has really started to take off with new members joining almost daily. We have 264 active members from all over the world with 47 of them being female so anyone who thinks that girls don't like metal obviously have never spent any time on  the Doommantia Forum. The forum covers a range of topics and genres so it is not just doom metal talk so there should be something for everyone to discuss. Well the update is over. Keep on supporting the site, reading the reviews & interviews. Donate if possible and don't forget to join the forum. Cheers.

  1. Oh damn, I used to enjoy the polls. Oh well I guess I will carry on without them. Pity there isn't more people donating. I know a dude that spent everyday promoting gigs and tours on his blog and never got a dime from anyone. Pretty lame when people don't support the things they love.

  2. Thank you so much Ed for being so supportive of FOD through the years. I am truly honored to have been a part of the awesomeness that is Doommantia.com.
I started the station going on 5 years ago with two goals in mind, to help the bands that play the styles of music that have meant so much to me. And to bring some new listeners to the Doom/Stoner/Sludge genres.
    Well......I think I've done that.

    Thank you brother!!!!!
